The Strange Recital is an audio forum for fiction, appearing monthly. We delight in perceptions of reality that twist and fold in unexpected ways. Our taste runs toward literary work rather than market genres like Science Fiction or Fantasy, but just about anything can appear here. We showcase work by authors known and unknown, past and present...work that leans in the same direction as Borges, Kafka, Carrington, Bulgakov, Pynchon, Saunders, Marquez, Calvino...but may also simply feature beautiful writing. We like subtlety, ambiguity, and the surreal, both smiles and grimaces.
Each monthly episode runs about 30 minutes and includes a reading of a short story or novel excerpt (the Recital), a musical interlude, and an author interview (the Post-Recital). Subscribe to get a new episode once a month.
